How was the music created - 14.02.2018

Whether supporting quiet scenes without dialogue, or all out action sequences with the enthralling sound of a full orchestra, the music in Harvie and the Magic Museum works to emphasize the unique aspects of each character and propel the story forward. “I have to admit that thanks to this film my dreams have come true. I was thrilled to be part of such a collaborative process to meet the challenges of producing an animated feature. There are big differences between composing for a live action feature and animated film. The most important challenge was to come up with the main themes of the film, because for an animated feature the music has to be more dynamic while also being quite to support the expressions of emotions. This made it quite challenging for me,“ noted  Jiří Škorpík.

More than 120 people took part in the film’s music production. “As I was listening to the music being created, I knew that it was the right music for our movie,” said director Martin Kotík.

The opening song was sung by the Pepa Vojtek, frontman for the famous Czech rock band “Kabát”. “My long-time friend Jiří Škorpík offered me the chance to work on Harvie and the Magic Museum. The song I sang, “The Ride”, has a very catchy melody that Jiří composed specifically for children. I am very glad that this incarnation of Harvie is very contemporary and that the animation is world-class,“ confided Pepa Vojtek.
