How long did it take to make the film from its inception to its premiere?

All together it took 9 long years to produce the film. The first serious idea for a Mr. Spejbl and Harvie film came in August of 2008.

 

How many characters appear in the movie?

Besides the iconic characters of Mr. Spejbl, Harvie, Monica, Jerry and Mrs. Katarina who originated as puppets, more than 120 new characters were created for the movie.

 

How many people participated in the creation of the film?

All together more than 250 people worked on the film.

 

How many countries worked on the film’s production?

Harvie and the Magic Museum was produced with the cooperation of studios in 5 countries –  the Czech Republic, Germany, Denmark, Belgium and Russia.

The film has over 1000 effects in over 400 shots. It's a movie full of spells and magic ...

 

Which character was the most challenging to animate?

The most difficult character to animate was the film’s villain, Puppet Master Bastor. He has 4 hands, 2 legs and very distinctive style of movement. The Dragon, with 4 legs, 2 wings and very long tail was a real challenge as well.

 

What's the most expensive effect shot in the film?

The most expensive and challenging shot was when the Magic Museum lands back on earth, plummeting into the ground and shaking the entire city. It involved several months of work for vfx specialists in two countries.

 

How many voice actors worked on the film?

More than 20 of the best Czech dubbing actors lent their voices to the film.
